Mr. Sternberg has served as Chairman of the Board of New York Life Insurance Company since April 1, 1997.  He joined New York Life in 1989 as Senior Vice President, and held positions of increasing responsibilitly, including Executive Vice President, Vice Chairman, and President, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer.  在加入纽约人寿保险前，Sternberg先生在马萨诸塞大都会保险公司工作了13年，他在那里担任资深执行副总裁，并担任公司主席和董事会成员。  从1999年至2002年，他担任亚太经济合作组织和工商咨询理事会的美方代表。  Sternberg先生还在Express Scripts董事会担任药物福利经理的职务。  他是商业圆桌会议的成员，集中于国际贸易和投资、证券和财政法规的工作，同时也是美国商会和对外关系委员会董事会的成员。  自2005年12月起担任CIT总监。
